- To have more screen real estate to see prices and order tickets. This is especially important for day traders who need to keep an eye on several markets at once.
- To be able to monitor different markets or instruments simultaneously. For example, a trader might want to watch the EUR/USD rate while also keeping an eye on the S&P 500 futures contract.
- To have charts and other analytical tools open next to each other so that they can be quickly referenced during trading sessions.
- To eliminate distractions by separating work from personal space (or vice versa). For some people, working in front of a single monitor can be too distracting, while others find it difficult to focus when there is no separation between work and home life
