Why do traders use multiple monitors?

There are many reasons why traders use multiple monitors, but here are just a few:

  1. To have more screen real estate to see prices and order tickets. This is especially important for day traders who need to keep an eye on several markets at once.
  2. To be able to monitor different markets or instruments simultaneously. For example, a trader might want to watch the EUR/USD rate while also keeping an eye on the S&P 500 futures contract.
  3. To have charts and other analytical tools open next to each other so that they can be quickly referenced during trading sessions.
  4. To eliminate distractions by separating work from personal space (or vice versa). For some people, working in front of a single monitor can be too distracting, while others find it difficult to focus when there is no separation between work and home life
