How do you know if your lawnmower needs oil?

If you’re like most people, you probably don’t think about your lawnmower all that much. But did you know that it needs oil just like a car does? If your lawnmower isn’t running right, or if it’s making a strange noise, the first thing to do is check the oil level.

Lawnmowers need oil because they have moving parts just like cars do. And if there’s not enough oil in the engine, those parts can start to wear down and cause problems. So how can you tell if your lawnmower needs more oil?

The best way to tell is to check the level of oil in the engine. You can find this by looking at the dipstick or on some models by removing the filler cap on top of the engine. The oil should be between two lines on the markings on either indicator – one for “low” and one for “high.” If it falls below either line, then you’ll need to add more oil before using your mower again.

Adding too much or too little oil won’t solve any problems – so be sure to only add what’s recommended in your lawn mower’s owner’s manual!
