If you have a rear-tine tiller, it’s important to know how to fix it when something goes wrong. Here are the most common problems and how to fix them:
Problem: The engine won’t start.
Solution: Make sure the choke is in the right position and that there is gasoline in the tank. If those things check out, try spraying starter fluid into the carburetor while cranking the engine. If that still doesn’t work, take it to a mechanic.
Problem: The tines aren’t rotating.
Solution: First make sure that they are properly attached to the axle and that all of the bolts are tight. Next, check for any debris or obstructions around or between the blades. Finally, if everything looks good but they still aren’t turning, your belt may need replacing
