There are a lot of different types of weights on the market these days. You have your standard rubber-coated weights, cast-iron weights, and even chrome weight plates. So which one is the best?
Some people might say that cast iron weights are better than rubber because they don’t bounce around as much. This can be true, but it also depends on what type of workout you’re doing. If you’re doing a lot of Crossfit or other high-intensity workouts, then the bouncing around of rubber-coated weights might actually be helpful in keeping your momentum up.
Cast iron weight plates are also a bit more expensive than their rubber counterparts. This is mainly because they last longer – you can drop them all day long and they won’t break! Rubber-coated weight plates tend to wear down over time, especially if you’re using them frequently for heavy lifting exercises.
